Stefan, who is originally from Pontypridd, studied architecture in Cardiff and has practised as an architect in Abergavenny since the late 1980's. He has a particular interest in historic buildings and is accredited in conservation. Finding more time available in recent years Stefan began drawing and painting with the art group. This culminated in participation in the group's Summer exhibition in 2022 where he showed watercolour and pen and wash paintings together with several charcoal drawings.
Initially Stefan painted local scenes and buildings which were very detailed and reminiscent of architectural illustration. Most recently he has discovered charcoal which has led to a more free flowing approach to his drawing. Stefan strives to capture fleeting moments in time which he hopes will generate an emotional response from the viewer. His subject matter varies from landscapes to life drawing and he finds charcoal and watercolour ideal mediums for this approach to his work
