Linda Wood

Linda returned to painting after her retirement from business.  She works principally in watercolour, but also ventures into other media on occasions.  She has a passion for encaustic wax painting and has recently returned to work with oils. The inspiration for her landscapes is drawn mostly from her surroundings in and around Abergavenny and she is known for her small detail brushwork.

Encaustic wax

Linda creates her encaustic wax paintings with an electric iron and wax blocks. Her embellishments are created with either a stylus, permanent ink, scraffito and, on occasion, stamps applied before the wax painting.

The textures are created as the air moves into the molten wax as the iron is  moved and lifted from the card. It is this process that enthuses Linda as no two paintings can be the same.
