Locked Down - Go  Online?

We're entering another period of Covid-19 restrictions and could you be tempted to go online in search of ideas, inspiration, or knowledge?  How about some of the following suggestions that have been sent to Abergavenny Artists?

jamie bootsJamie Boots is a pencil artist based in the UK specializing in wildlife art who is often asked to speak to or demo at local art societies.  In view of the current situation he has set up a You Tube Channel, which he'd been meaning to do for a long time and he intends to upload 2 videos a week including a tutorial.

Over the past couple of weeks he has uploaded 4 videos to You Tube:
Jamie Boots Channel Introduction   In addition How to Draw a Meerkat, part 1 the Initial Sketch and part 2 the eye and shading.  The Meerkat will probably have 3 or 4 parts to it with the next one being on the fur, which will come out on Thursday.  The other video uploaded is about the materials that I use for my art work.

quigleyArt Profile has published its October edition of the Art Profile Newsletter. This month Barbara at Art Profile says, "I am introducing new artist Lawrie Quigley who is available for online demonstrations and face to face events near Christchurch in Dorset.  Also a few groups were able to meet in person last month and the newsletter has a review of the New Look demonstrations with the restrictions in place.  Plus more groups are reverting to online demonstrations which are proving very popular and successful.  If you would like to book an online demo, please get in touch."

Monthly Painting Challenge during 2020

keepcalmThe pandemic of Covid-19 has compelled us to "stay at home" and to help members maintain their creativeness we are introducing a Painting Challenge.

Every month (starting in April) a topic will be set.  Entrants will interpret this topic in whatever way they choose.  Local artist Louise Collis has agreed to choose the topics and judge the submissions.  Each month's winner will receive a prize courtesy of Ralph Herron.

To participate please let Sarah Hoddy know (email shhoddy@gmail.com).  By the 28th of the month you'll need to submit your painting or an image (photo) of it to Sarah.  It will be assumed that you'll be happy for the image to be displayed on Facebook or our website where we will keep a gallery of the submissions for each month.  Click on the galleries listed below to see the submissions and winners.

Art Group Annual Exhibition in 2020

covidThe Annual Exhibition has had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic of Covid-19.  It is hoped that perhaps a reduced exhibition of some sort will be possible much later in the year, but we will have to wait to see if this is feasible.

Gallery 8 was created to show a select number of paintings from the 2016 exhibition.  For a small selection of the paintings shown at the 2015 exhibition go to Gallery 7.   If you are interested in any of the paintings displayed, please contact info@abergavennyartists.co.uk.
