Avril Jones

Avril says that the earliest recollection she has about Art was at the age of  about 8 years when she was continually sketching – houses, churches, and ‘film stars’ she'd seen in the local newspaper. Her favourite subjects were old, dilapidated buildings and sheds.  She says "I had no interest in colour, just paper and pencil."

Then education, university, employment, marriage and a young family all took precedence.

Then a chance conversation with a friend about joining a watercolour class, led by Neil Edmondsen of Crickhowell, brought about the rebirth of her interest in Art!  She adds, "since that time I have been a confirmed watercolourist with particular interest in landscapes, old buildings and floral studies."

She used to be on the Art Group committee and served as Treasurer for many years.

Exhibitions

Avril has exhibited her work for a number of years at the Art Group's annual exhibition held in Trinity Hall, Baker Street, Abergavenny.
